About Me

Hi there!

My name is Christine Reber, and I am a New York State Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor currently practicing in Orchard Park and Rochester, NY.

For over 15 years, I have been providing individual, group and family psychotherapy to individuals in a variety of settings. I have worked extensively with adolescents and adults with co-occurring psychiatric and substance abuse disorders.

I earned my Master of Science in Education (specializing in School Counseling) from the College at Brockport in 2012, followed by a Certificate of Advanced Study in Mental Health Counseling in 2013. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and a New York State Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC).

Currently, I am operating a full-time psychotherapy practice in Orchard Park, NY and a part-time practice in Rochester, NY–providing individual, couples/marriage and group psychotherapy services to adults, adolescents, and families throughout the Orchard Park, greater Buffalo and Rochester, NY areas.

While I enjoy working with a wide spectrum of clients in my practice, I have a special passion for treating social anxiety disorder/social phobia and working with Highly Sensitive People (HSPs). I also have extensive clinical experience treating alcohol and other substance use disorders. Other areas of specialty include: depression, anger management, self-esteem, relationship issues, suicidal ideation, trauma and PTSD, and borderline personality disorder.

I do not believe in a “one size fits all” model when it comes to treatment. Healing is a very unique and personal process. Therefore, I utilize an eclectic approach to counseling, drawing from person-centered, mindfulness, cognitive-behavioral, existential, strength-based, motivational interviewing, solution-focused approaches, and various other models and frameworks, in order to best meet the individualized needs of my clients. I offer Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) in both individual and group formats, focused on skills acquisition.

Most importantly, I believe that therapy should be a collaborative process. In the words of Albert Schweitzer, “Each patient carries his own doctor inside him…We are at our best when we give the doctor who resides within each patient a chance to go to work.” My role is to work collaboratively with you, as your guide, to help you navigate a happier, more fulfilling path.
